I enjoy learning things. I also enjoy history. I know everyone goes through some kind of history classes or lessons throughout their lives, primarily when they are in elementary school. It's funny because when I was in school, pre-college anyway, I didn't think I liked history. It seemed to focus on memorizing dates and names and less with the overall lesson and the things that I think are actually important to know.
Is it important to know when the first congress of America had a constitutional committee at the start of the country? I don't think so, but I do think its important to know why, where, and to what end. As long as you understand that and learn the lesson that history teaches I think that's what is important.
With all of that said I like to listen to podcasts where I learn something new, a few of my favorites are listed below. Lately I've been listening to History That Doesn't Suck. It starts with heavy emphasis on the American Revolution and the events that lead us to it. Initially I wasn't super excited about the topic as it is something I've been over in school several times. However, the host does a great job of adding details that you don't remember, or never heard before. Pair that with the release of Young Washington recently, and the 250th anniversary of America and I'm all in on the topic!
